Terms

Terms of use

Effective date: 14 September 2026 · Version 4. These Terms govern your access to and use of Crossing Paths. Please read them before creating an account or using the service.

1. Who we are

Crossing Paths is operated by Maverick Bits S.R.L., a company registered in Romania. In these Terms, “Crossing Paths”, “Maverick Bits”, “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to Maverick Bits S.R.L.

Registered office: jud. Bihor, mun. Oradea, str. Slatinei, nr. 21, bl. PB47, ap. 16, Oradea, Romania. Trade Register number: J05/2124/2022. Unique registration and tax code: 46518982. VAT number: RO46518982.

You can contact us at contact@crossing-paths.app. This is our direct contact channel for questions, complaints, and notices concerning the service or these Terms.

2. Accepting these Terms

By creating an account, affirmatively accepting these Terms, or otherwise using Crossing Paths, you enter into a contract with Maverick Bits S.R.L. on these Terms. If you do not agree, do not create an account or use the service.

Our Privacy Notice at crossing-paths.app/privacy explains how we handle personal data. It should be read together with these Terms, but it does not reduce any rights you have under applicable data-protection law.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into a binding contract to use Crossing Paths. The service is not intended for anyone under 18.

If you use the service on behalf of a company or other organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to bind that organisation. In that case, “you” also refers to that organisation where the context allows.

4. What the service does

Crossing Paths lets you create a profile, add upcoming trips, connect with friends, compare intentionally shared plans, and receive notices when eligible plans overlap. It may also let you share private trip links with accepted friends and optionally import supported reservation details from Gmail.

Crossing Paths is a coordination tool. It is not a travel agency, booking service, emergency service, identity-verification service, or live-location service. It does not continuously track where you or your friends are, and it does not guarantee that an overlap will be detected or that anyone will meet.

Trip details and overlap notices may be incomplete, delayed, or incorrect. Confirm important plans directly with the people and travel providers concerned, and do not rely on Crossing Paths for safety, immigration, transport, accommodation, or emergency decisions.

5. Your account

You must provide accurate information, keep it reasonably current, protect your sign-in credentials, and take reasonable steps to prevent unauthorised access. You may not transfer your account or allow another person to use it as their own.

Tell us promptly at contact@crossing-paths.app if you believe your account has been accessed without permission. You are responsible for activity through your account to the extent that it results from your failure to take reasonable care, but you are not responsible for activity caused by our breach of duty or by circumstances outside your reasonable control.

Usernames must not impersonate another person, mislead others about your identity, infringe rights, or violate these Terms. We may require a username to be changed when reasonably necessary for those reasons.

6. Profiles, friends, and shared trips

Your basic profile information, such as your username, name, and profile image, may be visible to people who open your profile link, including people without an account. Depending on the visibility setting you choose, your email address and Instagram account may be visible either to accepted friends or to anyone. Your phone number, if provided, is not intended to be public.

Trip plans are intended to be visible only to you and eligible accepted friends. A private trip link does not override those access rules. Removing a friend or restricting a person can affect what that person may view, but it cannot make them forget or delete information they lawfully saw or copied before access changed.

Choose your profile information, visibility settings, friends, and shared links carefully. Do not add or share another person’s private information or travel plans unless you have a lawful basis and any permission that is reasonably required.

7. Gmail trip imports

Gmail import is optional. If you connect Gmail, you authorise Crossing Paths to use the read-only permission presented by Google to look for supported reservation messages and extract trip details for the user-facing import feature. The permission does not allow Crossing Paths to send, change, or delete your email.

Imports are automated and may miss, misunderstand, duplicate, or incorrectly classify a reservation. Review imported destinations, dates, and statuses and correct them when necessary. We do not guarantee compatibility with every message, reservation provider, language, or change to Gmail.

You can disconnect Gmail from your settings. We will remove the stored connection credential and request revocation of Google access; trips already imported remain in your account unless you delete them or delete your account. Your use of Gmail and Google services also remains subject to Google’s applicable terms and policies.

8. Your content

You retain ownership of the profile information, images, contact details, trip details, and other material you submit to Crossing Paths (“Your Content”). You are responsible for Your Content and must have the rights and permissions needed to submit and share it in the way you choose.

You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, process, adapt solely for technical formatting, transmit, and display Your Content only as reasonably necessary to operate, maintain, secure, and provide Crossing Paths in accordance with your actions and visibility choices. This licence lasts while Your Content is held for those purposes and ends when it is deleted, subject to reasonable technical backup periods and retention required by law.

This licence does not give us the right to sell Your Content, use it in advertising, or train a general-purpose artificial-intelligence model on it. Personal data remains subject to the Privacy Notice and applicable law.

9. Acceptable use

You may use Crossing Paths only lawfully and for its intended purpose. You must not submit, display, or share content that is illegal, fraudulent, deceptive, threatening, abusive, harassing, hateful, discriminatory, sexually exploitative, invasive of privacy, defamatory, or infringing of intellectual-property or other rights.

You must not impersonate another person; expose another person’s private contact, account, or travel information without authority; send spam or unwanted requests; stalk, intimidate, exploit, or endanger anyone; distribute malware; probe or bypass security or access controls; access another account without permission; scrape or harvest data; overload or disrupt the service; or use automated means to interact with the service unless we have authorised them in writing.

You must not use Crossing Paths to arrange or promote unlawful activity, commercial surveillance, trafficking, exploitation, or harm. Attempts to help another person do something prohibited by this section are also prohibited.

10. Reports and enforcement

To report content that you believe is illegal or violates these Terms, email contact@crossing-paths.app. Identify the profile or content precisely, provide its location or URL where possible, explain the concern and the legal or contractual basis for it, and include your name and email address. A name is not required for a notice concerning suspected sexual abuse or exploitation of a minor. Submit notices in good faith and ensure that the information you provide is accurate and complete.

We may investigate reports and may remove or restrict content, limit visibility or features, suspend or terminate an account, preserve relevant evidence, or notify competent authorities when reasonably necessary to enforce these Terms, protect people or the service, or comply with law. We do not undertake a general obligation to monitor user content.

Where required by applicable law and contact details have been provided, we will acknowledge receipt of a notice without undue delay. We will communicate our decision, explain a restriction to the affected user, and provide information about available ways to challenge it where the law requires. If you believe we made a mistake concerning your content or account, contact us at contact@crossing-paths.app with the relevant details.

11. Our service and intellectual property

Crossing Paths, including its software, design, branding, text, graphics, and other material provided by us, is owned by or licensed to Maverick Bits S.R.L. and is protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not transfer ownership of that material to you.

We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable right to use the service for its intended purpose in accordance with these Terms. Except where applicable law does not allow the restriction, you may not copy, sell, sublicense, publicly reproduce, reverse engineer, or create derivative services from Crossing Paths.

If you voluntarily send us feedback or suggestions, you permit us to consider and use them without payment or an obligation to implement them. This does not change how we must handle personal data or Your Content.

12. Third-party services

Crossing Paths relies on third-party services for functions such as hosting, authentication, payment processing and subscription management, location search, analytics, and optional Gmail access. Paid Crossing Paths Plus transactions use Stripe Managed Payments, with Link shown as the merchant of record. Those providers may operate under their own terms and privacy notices when you interact with them directly.

We are not responsible for a third-party service’s independent acts, content, or availability. We remain responsible for our own obligations, including how we select and use providers, to the extent required by applicable law.

13. Free and Plus plans

Crossing Paths offers a Free plan and an optional paid subscription called Crossing Paths Plus (“Plus”). The service identifies the features included in each plan. A Plus feature described as coming later is not available until we release it, and subscribing does not promise a particular release date.

We may also provide Plus without charge as Complimentary Plus. Complimentary Plus is not a paid subscription, does not renew, and does not create a charge. It remains available until the date shown in Membership, or without an expiry date when none is shown. A complimentary grant may be revoked if it was issued in error, obtained through misuse, or subject to eligibility conditions that are no longer met. Complimentary access and a paid subscription are managed independently.

Complimentary Plus may be offered through a public partner referral or a private partner benefit. Each account may claim no more than one public referral benefit and one private partner benefit in total across all partners. Public referral links may be shared. Private benefit links are intended only for people invited through the named partner; do not forward one outside the intended group or claim it if it was not provided to you through that partner. Possession of a link does not confirm eligibility or guarantee a benefit. Availability may depend on the partner and invitation remaining active, the stated claim period and capacity, and, for a private benefit, the token remaining current. Changing or revoking a link does not by itself shorten a benefit already granted. Each benefit is personal to the account that claims it and cannot be transferred. Claiming a benefit does not add friends or give the partner access to your account, profile, friends, or trips.

Plus is charged monthly in advance using the recurring base price and currency shown before purchase. Stripe Managed Payments may present and charge an equivalent amount in a supported local currency. Stripe Checkout shows the final recurring total, including any applicable indirect taxes, before you place the order. For the paid transaction, Stripe acts through Link as the merchant of record, and the purchase appears as Sold through Link. By confirming the order, you authorise Stripe to charge your selected payment method when the subscription begins and automatically at each monthly renewal until the subscription ends.

We may change the price for future billing periods only after giving any advance notice and obtaining any agreement required by applicable law. Unless we tell you otherwise, a price change does not alter a billing period that you have already paid for.

You may cancel Plus at any time from Membership by choosing Manage subscription. An ordinary cancellation stops future renewals and takes effect at the end of the paid billing period shown in your account, so Plus normally remains available until the access-through date and time shown there. Cancelling Plus does not delete your account, trips, or other Free-plan data.

If a recurring payment fails, Stripe may retry the payment and ask you to update your payment method. We may keep Plus available for a limited payment-recovery period shown in your account, but we do not promise a grace period. Plus may end sooner if a payment is fully refunded, reversed, or disputed, if you delete your account, or where we may lawfully suspend or terminate access under these Terms.

Scheduling a cancellation does not by itself create a refund for the current paid period. Stripe provides transaction support through Link and may issue refunds under its Managed Payments policies. We can also assist with product support and refund requests. Refunds, price reductions, termination rights, and reimbursements remain available where applicable law requires them. Contact Link support or contact@crossing-paths.app if you believe a charge is incorrect or a refund is due.

If you are a consumer, nothing in this section limits your mandatory rights. Consumers entering a distance contract may have a statutory right to withdraw within 14 days after the contract is concluded, subject to the conditions and exceptions in applicable law. To exercise a withdrawal right, send an unambiguous statement to contact@crossing-paths.app before the deadline and identify the account concerned; no particular wording is required. We will coordinate the transaction outcome with Stripe where necessary. If you use Plus before withdrawing, any proportionate charge applies only where the law permits it and the legally required information and consent steps were completed. Cancelling future renewal through Stripe or Link does not replace a statutory withdrawal, conformity, price-reduction, termination, or reimbursement claim.

Where a valid statutory withdrawal right applies, we will coordinate with Stripe to make the reimbursement required by law without undue delay and no later than 14 days after we receive your notice, using the original payment method unless you expressly agree otherwise and without charging a reimbursement fee. Any lawful proportionate amount for a service supplied before withdrawal will be handled under the applicable statutory rules.

Optional withdrawal form: To Maverick Bits S.R.L., at the postal and email addresses in section 1. I notify you that I withdraw from my Plus subscription concluded on [date]. Consumer name: [name]. Consumer address: [address]. Account email: [email]. Date: [date]. Signature: [only if sent on paper]. You may send this form or any other unambiguous statement; using the form is not required.

14. Availability and changes

We use reasonable care to provide the service, but it may sometimes be unavailable because of maintenance, security work, technical failure, third-party changes, or events outside our reasonable control. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free availability.

We may add, update, limit, or remove features for valid reasons, including security, legal, technical, operational, or product-development reasons. We will not charge extra for a change to a service you already receive without first obtaining any agreement required by law.

If a change materially and negatively affects your access to or use of the service, we will provide reasonable advance notice, in a clear and understandable manner and on a durable medium where required by law. Any statutory right to reject a change, terminate the contract, receive a remedy, or obtain continued conformity remains unaffected.

15. Suspension, termination, and deletion

You may stop using Crossing Paths at any time. You can delete your account through the account settings. Deleting the account removes your sign-in access and starts deletion of associated profile, friend, trip, and Gmail-connection data from active systems. Limited copies may remain temporarily in protected backups or where retention is required by law, as explained in the Privacy Notice.

Deleting an account is different from cancelling a paid Plus subscription. Before deleting the account, we expire open Stripe Checkout sessions, cancel an active subscription, and ask Stripe to delete the customer record associated with the account. All Plus access, including Complimentary Plus, ends immediately, so you cannot use the remainder of a paid or complimentary period. Account deletion does not by itself create a refund, but it does not affect any refund or other remedy required by applicable law.

We may restrict, suspend, or terminate access if you materially or repeatedly breach these Terms, create a security or legal risk, misuse the service, or if we are required to do so by law or a competent authority. We will normally give notice and a reasonable opportunity to address the issue where appropriate, but may act immediately when necessary to prevent harm, protect security, or comply with law.

We may discontinue the service. Where reasonably practicable and legally required, we will give advance notice so that you can review or retrieve information available through your account. Ending these Terms does not affect rights or liabilities that arose before termination, and provisions intended by their nature to continue will remain in effect.

16. Statutory rights and service standards

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits rights or remedies that applicable law does not allow us to exclude or limit. If you are a consumer, this includes mandatory rights concerning withdrawal, digital-service conformity, data protection, unfair contract terms, and remedies such as bringing the service into conformity, a proportionate price reduction, termination, or reimbursement where their legal conditions are met.

Subject to those mandatory rights, Crossing Paths is provided on an “as available” basis. We do not guarantee that every trip, profile, import, overlap, notification, or third-party integration will always be accurate, complete, compatible, secure from every conceivable threat, or available at a particular time.

17. Liability

We are responsible for loss or damage that is a foreseeable result of our breach of these Terms or our failure to use legally required care. We are not responsible for loss caused by inaccurate information you or another user supplied, your failure to follow reasonable instructions, unauthorised use resulting from your failure to protect your account, a third party acting independently of us, or events outside our reasonable control, except to the extent the law makes us responsible.

Crossing Paths is intended for personal coordination. We are not responsible for business losses, loss of profit, loss of revenue, loss of business opportunity, or business interruption arising from consumer use of the service.

Where liability may lawfully be limited, our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the service or these Terms will not exceed the greater of EUR 100 and the amount you paid us for the service during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.

The exclusions and cap above do not apply to fraud, wilful misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by our act or omission, or any breach, liability, remedy, or statutory consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

18. Complaints and disputes

Please first send complaints to contact@crossing-paths.app so that we have a reasonable opportunity to resolve them directly. Include the email associated with your account, a clear description of the issue, and the outcome you are seeking. Do not send passwords, access tokens, or unnecessary sensitive information.

Consumers who are eligible may also use the alternative dispute-resolution services of Romania’s National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC). Information is available at anpc.ro, and the electronic SAL platform is available at reclamatiisal.anpc.ro. Using an alternative dispute-resolution process does not remove any right to bring a claim before a competent court.

19. Governing law and courts

These Terms and our contractual relationship are governed by Romanian law. If you are a consumer, this choice does not deprive you of mandatory protections provided by the law of your country of habitual residence where those protections apply regardless of this choice.

Consumers may bring proceedings in any court available to them under mandatory applicable law. We may bring proceedings against a consumer only in courts permitted by that law. For users acting wholly in the course of business, the courts of Oradea, Romania have exclusive jurisdiction, unless mandatory law provides otherwise.

20. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms for valid reasons, including changes to the service, law, security requirements, or our business. We will publish the revised Terms with a new effective date and version number.

If a change materially affects your rights or obligations, we will provide reasonable advance notice through the service or the contact details associated with your account where required by law. Changes will not apply retroactively unless required by law. If you do not accept revised Terms, you may stop using the service and delete your account before they take effect.

21. General terms

If any provision of these Terms is found unlawful or unenforceable, it will be limited or removed only to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue to apply. A delay in enforcing a right is not a waiver of that right.

We may transfer these Terms as part of a reorganisation, merger, acquisition, or transfer of the service, provided that doing so does not reduce mandatory rights or protections available to you. We will provide notice where required by law. You may not transfer your account or your rights under these Terms without our written consent, except where applicable law permits it.

These Terms constitute the agreement between you and us concerning the service, together with any additional terms you expressly accept for a specific feature. They do not limit obligations or rights arising under applicable law or the Privacy Notice.

These Terms are available in English and Romanian, and both versions are intended to have the same meaning. If the versions differ, the Romanian version prevails for consumers habitually resident in Romania and the English version prevails for other users, unless mandatory law requires otherwise.
